Undocumented immigrants in the US have constitutional rights. When ICE agents come to your door, you don't have to open it unless they have a valid search warrant (a deportation warrant is not enough). Ask to see the warrant and check that it has your correct information and a judge's signature. You can refuse to speak to them, or speak through the closed door. You have the right to remain silent ("I choose to remain silent") and can show a "know-your-rights" card. You don't have to show documents that state your country of origin. Do not show false documents or lie. You have the right to speak to a lawyer, even if detained. Ask for a list of pro bono lawyers or contact your consulate. Don't sign anything without talking to a lawyer. You can request a free phone call to family or friends if you don't have funds after 10 days in detention. This information is not legal advice; consult an immigration attorney for your specific situation.

Konnen Dwa Ou: Si ICE VIzite Lakay ou
